- While creating the back-up and during updating the files no one can work in Eventure
- The installer files MUST be run as Administrator
- In case any error occurs, contact the Eventure Helpdesk
To download the latest version of the installer files, please send us an email and we will send you an URL to the files: eventure@parthen.nl
The update consists the following steps:
- Check Active Users in Eventure
- Create Back-up
- Close Eventure
- Download, unpack and move installer files to Eventure folder
- Run 2 installers as Administrator
- Reindex databases
Step 1. Check Active Users
You can find this screen in the Main module via Info -> Active Users. If it shows only your user/computername, it looks good and you can perform the backup.
If there are more than 1 user, please ask your colleagues to close Eventure during the backup and the update.
Step 2. Create Back-up
To create a backup go to Main Module -> Info -> Eventure Support and click on Create backup.
Depending on the number and the size of the existing congresses, this may take several minutes to several hours.
When the backup is ready, the message below will appear.
Tip: Write down the locations of the Eventure folders before you close Eventure.
You'll need them at Step 4.
You can find them in the lower part of the Eventure Support screen:
Step 3. Close Eventure
Close Eventure before running the installers.
If Eventure is open, not all the files can be updated and the update will likely fail.
Step 4. Download, unpack and move installer files
To download the latest version of the installer files, please send us an email and we will send you an URL to the files: eventure@parthen.nl
After you have received the files (in .ZIP format), unpack the ZIP file and place them in the application folder. The location can be found below in the Eventure Support screen.
Step 5. Run installers as Administrator
The first installer to run (to update the files in the application folder) is the 'Eventure update.exe'
To run this as Administrator, right-click on it and choose 'Run as Administrator'.
This can only be done when you have the right privileges.
Do the same for the second installer: 'Eventure Data Update.msi'
Once you have executed both installers successfully, the update is almost finished.
Step 6. Reindex databases
The last step of the update can be done from the Main module of Eventure.
Start Eventure from your desktop or run the EVFORWIN.exe file in the Application folder.
Find the Maintenance menu via Main module -> File -> Maintenance.
In the dropdown menu, first choose 'Only basic data files' and click start.
The reindex is done when the Total indexed bar is 100% (or more...) and the start button is available again.
Then, choose 'All files including basic data files' and click start.
Eventure will now reindex all the databases of the congresses, this can take some time.
This was the last step of the update, the users can now start working in Eventure again.
